U.S. Embassy: No need for 3rd party when applying for visa

THE United States  Embassy in Manila applauded the Philippine National Police (PNP) Criminal Investigation and Detection Group’s (CIDG) action against a visa consultancy company located in close proximity to the embassy in Manila.

Security officers of the US Embassy collaborated with Philippine law enforcement authorities in the investigation leading to the arrest of the representatives.

U.S. Consul General Michael Schimmel said, “We appreciate the cooperation we have received from Philippine law enforcement entities in investigating illegal activities that impact our consular operations here in Manila.”

He explained that “travelers should know that there is no need for them to use a travel agency, third party, or visa consultancy firm when they apply for a U.S. visa.  Most non-immigrant visa applicants are found to be qualified for visas, and outside help is really not needed in order to demonstrate eligibility for a visa.  I would urge all those who apply for a visa at our embassy to be honest about their purpose of travel to the United States.”

The Consul General also noted that the presentation of fraudulent documents in a visa interview can result in an applicant’s permanent exclusion from travel to the United States.

The U.S. Embassy urged the public to report illegal visa consultancy companies by contacting This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
