Solons condole with Iggy kin
LAWMAKERS yesterday extended their condolences to the loved ones of the late Negros Occidental Rep. Ignacio “Iggy” Arroyo who died in London the other day due to cardiac arrest and whose remains are expected to arrive next week.
Leyte Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez led lawmakers in extending their sympathies to the family members of Arroyo.
“We extend our deepest condolences to Congressman Arroyo’s loved ones and offer prayers for the eternal repose of his soul,” said Romualdez.
Following custom, Speaker Feliciano “Sonny” Belmonte Jr. said “the House will ensure that the needs of Rep. Arroyo’s constituency will be addressed despite his passing.”
“In the meantime, we offer our deepest condolences and prayers to the family of Representative Arroyo in this time of grief,” he added.
In a press conference, Aurora Rep. Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara, Marikina City Rep. Miro Quimbo and Quezon Rep. Lorenzo “Erin” Tañada III said they were saddened by the demise of Arroyo and expressed their condolences.
Arroyo was first elected Congressman in 2004. During his second term in 2007, he served this Congress occupying important positions in committees, such as the House committees on agriculture and on appropriations.
