TENSION gripped students and employees of the Far Eastern University (FEU) on C.M. Recto Avenue in Sampaloc, Manila, after a suspected bomb was found inside one of its comfort rooms the other day.
A report from the Manila Police District (MPD)-Sampaloc Police Station 4 said the incident took place at around 3:25 p.m.
Before that, school janitor Efren Agbuan Jr. was cleaning the men’s comfort room at the third floor when he noticed a box on the floor. It was tied and an electric cord was found hanging from one of the sides of the box.
Agbuan immediately informed the police about the box and the matter was relayed to the MPD-Explosive and Ordnance Division (EOD).
An EOD team, led by Insp. Arnold Santos, then conducted a render safety procedure (RSP) using an X-ray machine and through it, the box was found negative for bomb or any other explosive device.
Instead, found inside the box were some light bulbs, a shattered glass, nails and used electric cords.
After clearing the area, police had a dialogue with school authorities regarding the necessary safety precautions that should be taken in such cases.
