METROPOLITAN Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Francis Tolentino yesterday said the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) should conduct a “mock EDSA rehabilitation plan” before the real construction works starts on May.
Tolentino said a mock exercise would enable them, the DPWH, the local government units (LGU), the motorists and the general public to prepare for the planned rehabilitation plan and iron out any kinks once the work started.
“Kung ang Commission on Elections nagkaroon ng mock elections kahapon to test their systems, dapat ang DPWH magkaroon din ng mock EDSA rehabilitation plan,” Tolentino said.
He explained that the mock rehabilitation works should be held on weekdays when traffic at EDSA is at its highest.
At the same time, the official said the DPWH should also hire additional personnel, including enforcers to help man the traffic as the MMDA would be hard-pressed to deploy in all streets. Edd Reyes
