45-year-old engineer was killed in an ambush perpetrated by two motorcycle-riding men Thursday night in Caloocan City.
Gary Francis Florendo Verceles, of Blk. 48, Lot 20, Neovista Homes, Bgy. 171, Bagumbong, died on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds in the body while the suspects, both wearing bonnets and face masks, immediately fled on board a motorcycle after the killing.
Caloocan police chief Senior Supt. Johnson Almazan said Verceles was driving his motorcycle (3951-XR) past 8 p.m. and traversing along Bagumbong Road when the suspects blocked his path at the corner of MCB II Street in front of a burger machine and shot him repeatedly in the body.
The victim’s wife, Olivia Verceles, 43, told police that her husband had no known enemies, prompting investigators to look at several angles leading to the motive behind the killing.
A follow-up operation was immediately conducted by elements of Caloocan Police Follow-Up Unit, led by Senior Insp. Edgar Adona, for possible identification and arrest of the suspects.
