SAN Jose City, Nueva Ecija -- A 42-year-old ex-barangay kagawad was nabbed on Sunday following a search on his house which yielded several plastic sachets containing shabu traces and marijuana residues, police said yesterday.
City police commander Supt. Reynaldo S. dela Cruz identified the arrested ex-barangay official as Francis Hernaez, a palay agent, alias Bato/Basa, of Sitio Tanibong, Bgy. Abar 2nd, this city.
Police searched his house on the strength of a warrant issued by Judge Cynthia Martinez-Florendo, of RTC Branch 39, San Jose City, for violation of Sec. 11 of RA 9165.
Dela Cruz said the suspect is included in the watchlist for suspected drug personalities of the local police.
Seized during the operation were two plastic sachets containing traces of suspected shabu, a plastic sachet containing suspected marijuana residues and various drug paraphernalia, consisting of four aluminum foil strips, a roll of aluminum foil, five disposable lighters and two improvised bamboo clips.
Police said the arrested suspect and the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the San Jose City police station for proper disposition.
Charges for violation of Section 11 and 12 of RA 9165 have been filed against the suspect before the City Prosecutor’s Office.
