FOUR Chinese nationals were arrested by combined agents of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, the Manila Police District and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency during an anti-narcotics raid on a hotel in Sta. Cruz which resulted in the confiscation of an estimated P1 million worth of shabu, PNP-CIDG director Chief Supt. Roel B. Obusan said yesterday.
Suspects Api Tiu, 60, his wife Luz Chan Ang, sister-in-law Betty Chan and assistant Henry Bernales Go were arrested inside Rooms 201 and 208 of the Goodhope/Goodlife Hotel located at 518 Tomas Mapua St., Sta. Cruz, Manila, at 3:30 p.m. Monday, said Obusan.
Members of the CIDG National Capital Region, under Senior Supt. Belli Tamayo, led the raid on the strength of a search warrant for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 issued by Manila Judge Virgilio Macaraig.
Tamayo said that during the search, his men recovered 600 grams of shabu worth P1 million and P1.7 million cash believed to be part of the suspects’ drug proceeds. Tiu was described as a main shabu supplier in Manila.
The suspects will charged with violation of RA 9165.
