PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte is set to meet with Presidents Vladimir Putin of Russia and Xi Jinping of China this Saturday.
The President arrived Thursday evening (Friday in Manila) in Peru for his first appearance at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit which starts on Nov. 19.
Duterte was welcomed by Peruvian Minister of Culture Jorge Nieto and Peruvian Ambassador to Manila Julio Cardenas Velarde as he alighted from the presidential plane at the Jorge Chavez International Airport moments before midnight.
Foreign Secretary Perfecto Yasay, who previously met US Secretary of State John Kerry, said the President will hold bilateral discussions with Putin and Xi on Saturday.
A face off between Duterte and US President Barack Obama is not seen as there was no request for a private meeting between the two leaders.
Yasay said the host country, and several other leaders had also sought bilateral meetings with the President.
