Three suspected car thieves were killed during a shootout with policemen yesterday morning in Quezon City.

One of the slain suspects was identified as Anthony Ryan, 30, of 117 Baco St., San Isidro Labrador, QC.
Acting QCPD director Senior Supt. Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar said the suspects engaged operatives of the District Special Operations Unit (DSOU) Anti-Carnapping Section, led by Chief Insp. Hector Ortencio, at 1:15 a.m. in Bgy. Payatas-B, QC.
Reports said that at 12:20 a.m., a concerned citizen tipped off the police about a Toyota Vios taxi (UVY-931) which was allegedly dismantled by the suspects in a vacant lot along Area 5, Payatas Road. The operatives went to the area to check. However, the suspects fired at the operatives, triggering a firefight.
The three suspects were wounded and rushed to Gen. Malvar Hospital where they were pronounced dead on arrival.
Investigators recovered from the suspects’ possession three cal. .38 revolvers with fired cartridge cases in their cylinders and the dismantled taxi which was reported to have been forcibly taken from a certain Reynaldo dela Cruz by four armed suspects at 10 p.m. on Nov. 13, 2016 along Katipunan Avenue in front of Nawasa in Quezon City. A plastic sachet of shabu was also recovered from the pocket of Ryan.
