28 drug traffickers held, P115-K shabu seized

TWO separate anti-narcotics operations by the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Cebu province last Saturday resulted in the arrest of 25 suspects and the seizure of an estimated P115,000 worth of shabu, PNP-CIDG director Chief Supt. Roel B. Obusan announced yesterday.

Meanwhile, in Batangas, three suspected drug offenders were collared during the implementation of search warrants in Bgy.  Caybunga, Balayan, on Friday, reports said
Obusan said the operations were conducted in Cebu and Talisay cities by members of the Metro Cebu CIDG with the help of the Regional Public Safety Battalion 7 and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
He said operatives of the 7th Regional Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, headed by Senior Supt. Edgar Mayo, arrested 12 of the suspects during a buy-bust operation in Sitio Buli, Bgy. Duljo-Fatima, Cebu City.
The suspects were identified as Mike Anthony Alcover, Solomon Tadena, Deanver Fano, Jomark Anthony Cumla, Brimar Cabigon, Dennis Villaber, Fidel Abayan, Arnel Tayo, Miraflor Verona, April Frias, Rowena Medellin and Joel Cañeda.
The suspects yielded 16 plastic sachets containing 20 grams of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ worth P100,000, the marked money paid by an undercover officer and cash believed to be part of their illegal drug proceeds.
Another buy-bust operation in Sitio Tunga, Bgy. Tangke, Talisay City, led to the arrest of Rodolfo Labajo, Christine Basallo, Raiza Rubio, Glizcerie Daan, Van Ian Abarquez, Wawe Palang, Climaco Barsilas, Joe Mae Mangaron, Jason Labandero, Jerel Abay, Edwin Rabaya, Benjie Adlawan and Elvin Plamer, and the recovery of 16 plastic packets containing seven grams of shabu worth P35,000 and the marked money handed to the suspects by a poseur.
The suspects are now facing charges for selling of drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, said Obusan.
In Batangas, acting police director Senior Supt. Leopoldo Cabanag identified the arrested suspects as Ronald Lacsamana Macalindong, 39, married; Manny Gonzales, 42, single, and Paolo Macalindong Villapando, 27, single, all jobless, of Bgy. Caybunga, Balayan town.
SPO4 Herbert M Mendoza said  that at 8:30 p.m. Friday, detectives of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Batangas, led by Chief Insp. Zyrus Michael Serrano, together with PPSC and BPPO, implemented Search Warrant No. B340 (16) for the violation of RA 10591 against  Rodolfo Macalindong, who yielded five rounds of live ammunition for cal. .45, 20 rounds of live bullets for cal. 9mm, three plastic sachets of suspected shabu (5.7 grams) worth  P17,100, a glass tooter and a digital weighing scale.
Police found from Paolo 1.24 grams of suspected shabu worth P3,720 and a disposable lighter.
Seized from Gonzales were a plastic sachet of shabu (1.45 grams) worth P4,350 and a lighter.
The search and seizure was conducted in the presence of Lorna Macalindong, Bgy. Chairman Teresito Alaraz, Bgy. Kagawad Romeo Atajar, Mariel Manalo (DOJ representative) and mediaman Onofre Tenorio.
The three suspects were detained at the CIDG lock-up cell, facing charges of violation of RA 10591 and  RA 9165.
