A garbage collector is now recuperating in a hospital after being hit by a stray bullet while scavenging in a dumping site near a grocery store in Tondo, Manila,  Thursday night.

Supt. Robert Domingo, commander of the Manila Police District (MPD)-Station 1, identified the victim as Arnel Bustamante, 33, of Smokey Mountain area in Balut, Tondo, Manila.

The victim was reportedly walking on the northbound lane of Road 10 in search of recyclable wastes when he suddenly felt numbness in his left thigh.

Moments later, while he was checking his thigh, he saw  blood coming out of it, followed by pain which caused him to fall to the ground. Concerned citizens rushed him to the hospital.

Meanwhile, authorities are looking into the incident to establish where the bullet came from, since the victim himself told the police that he did not hear any gunshot in the area.
