due to financial problems brought about by daily traffic, a jeepney driver committed suicide inside an abandoned building of the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

Prober SPO3 Milbert Balinggan of the Manila Police District (MPD)-Crimes Against Persons Investigation Section (CAPIS) said victim Danilo Baltazar, 50, of 1139 Vargas St., Tondo, Manila, was found dead at around 6:30 a.m. hanging by the neck near the fire exit located at the third floor of an abandoned MMDA building located on Jose Abad Santos Avenue near the corner of New Antipolo Street in Tondo.

The victim was reportedly last seen alive by one Maritess Cruz when he had dinner in her eatery.

According to her, the victim asked Cruz to move the deadline for him to pay his debt to her, since he was not able to meet the amount needed for him to remit his boundary. Cruz told police that the victim was acting strangely, as if talking to himself.

Police gathered that more often than not, the victim failed to remit the exact daily boundary to the operator of the jeepney and for that, he always got scolded.

Police theorized that this problem may have driven the victim to take his own life.
