SEPARATE anti-narcotics operations by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency across the country this week resulted in the arrest of 14 suspected drug personalities and the seizure of more than P6 million worth of shabu, PDEA Director General Isidro S. Lapeña said yesterday.

One of the suspects identified as Jerome Fat Sosmeña, a 31-year-old resident of Luz, Cebu City was arrested after he sold around one kilo of shabu worth P5 million to an undercover officer of the PDEA Regional Office 6 at the Cebu Business Park last Thursday.

Also recovered from the suspect’s possession were several drug paraphernalia including a digital weighing scale, assorted bank documents, the marked money paid to him by the poseur and a motorcycle with plate number OW 5000.

PDEA Region 7 operatives also arrested security guard Gilbert Jatico after they caught him sniffing shabu inside an abandoned building along Airport Road, Pusok in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu. Two companions of the suspects identified as Gary Jeade Sollano and one alias ‘Kokoy’ eluded arrest and are still being hunted.

In Bacoor City, Cavite, PDEA Region 4-A agents last Friday arrested an administrative aide of the Department of Labor and Employment and his five accomplices during a buy-bust operation.

Lapeña identified the government employee as Benito Clyde Ebol alias ‘Popot,’ 40, a resident of Sampaguita Street, Queen’s Row West, Bacoor City.

The official said that his men arrested Ebol after he sold P500 worth of shabu to an undercover officer just outside his house which is believed to be being used as a drug den. Seized from the suspect were some 50 grams of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ worth P250,000 and several drug paraphernalia.

Also taken into custody were Alexander Valete, 33; Ezekiel Encabo, 20; Denver Villapando, 36; Daryl Arviso, alias Choy, 30; and Mark Adrian Cruz, 29, all residents of Bacoor City, Cavite, who were caught in the act of having a shabu session inside the den.

An investigation showed that Ebol converted a former ‘sari-sari’ store located right in front of his residence as a room where drug users can sniff shabu for a fee. The suspect is believed to be regularly disposing around 25 grams of shabu a day.

In General Mariano Alvarez, Cavite, local PDEA operatives arrested Alibsar Nacarangcat alias ‘Alvin,’ 26, after he sold 50 grams of shabu worth P250,000 to an undercover officer along Congressional Road in Poblacion 5 also last Friday.  A cohort of Nacarangcat identified as Joel de Guzman is still being hunted as of press time.

In Zamboanga City, PDEA Region 9 operatives raided a suspected drug den inside the Sta. Cruz public cemetery in Bgy. Tetuan last Friday and arrested the suspected dive operators named Mark Raymond Cabato, 25, and his  five customers.

Lapeña said that Cabato was arrested after he sold P500 worth of shabu to a poseur. The suspect’s partner named Christian Ventura was able to escape during the operation and remained at-large as of yesterday.

Also arrested during the operation were Jomar Rosales, 27, his brother Jesmar, 25; Yasmir Mustafa, 33; Gilbert Nolla, 34; and Jomar Suba, 30.
