BULA, Camarines Sur -- A motorcycle-riding seaman was killed after being run over by a dump truck loaded with aggregates on Maharlike Highway in Rinconada (4th district) in Bgy. Banasi on the eve of All Saints’ Day.
The victim, identified as Isidro Tagum, 41, who came home with his wife in Bgy. Fabrika, died on the spot while the truck driver escaped with his vehicle.
Witness Zaldy Morie told police that Tagum’s driven motorcycle was sideswiped by a van amid heavy rains on the highway, causing his motorcycle to fall down. A fast-approaching dump truck ran over the victim.
A cousin of the victim, Jun Arroyo, said they prevented Tagum from leaving a relative’s house in Bgy. Banasi where they had a drinking spree but the victim insisted to go home on board a motorcycle.
Grief-stricken wife of the victim, Sherlyn, said they came home to Bula town just to visit the tomb of their first-born child, who died in 2009, and later visit some relatives in the area.
