Indang now cleared of chikungunya

INDANG, Cavite -- The local government here announced on Monday that the chikungunya virus outbreak in this upland town has been  under control.

Mayor Perfecto V. Fidel issued the statement based on reports from the rural health unit (RHU) headed by Dr. Rosa Alegre during a meeting with officials of 36 barangays affected by mosquito-bite virus.
   
“Cleared na po ang ating bayan sa chikungunya outbreak mga kababayan. Salamat po sa pakikipaglutungan ng bawa’t isa sa atin para madaling mapuksa ang pesteng lamok,” Fidel said.
   
Recently, many barangays of the town were hi by the chikubgunya outbreak with 900 cases, prompting the local government to declare a state of calamity and alloted a P7 million to fight the disease.
   
“Panatiliin po nating malinis ang ating kapaligiran upang ang nasabing sakit ay ’di na bumalik sa ating bayan. Ang lokal na pamahalaan po ay patuloy sa kampanya kontra dengue at chikungunya virus.
