GAPAN City, Nueva Ecija -- Three unidentified armed assassins stormed a gamefowl farm and shot dead an incumbent city councilor and his driver last Wednesday afternoon here.

City police commander Supt. Peter B. Madria identified the fatalities as city councilor-businessman Sonny San Jose, 41, married, of Bgy. Sto. Cristo Norte, this city, and his driver Antonio Punzal, 36, of 84 Circumferential Road, Bgy. Kapitan Pepe Subd., Cabanatuan City.

San Jose ran and won as city councilor under the slate of reelectionist Mayor Maricel Natividad-Nagano, who lost against former Pambuan Bgy. Captain and now Mayor Emerson “Emeng” Pascual.

Madria said the daring attack occurred at 1:20 p.m. inside the gamefowl farm owned by 54-year-old businessman Roel Francisco in Bgy. Mangino.

The two victims were resting when the three suspects suddenly barged into the compound and shot the driver twice before shooting the city councilor in the head and body.

Madria said the victims were dead on the spot while the suspects fled to unknown direction.

Recovered at the scene were 12 fired cartridge cases for cal. .45 pistol.

Madria said they are still investigating the motive behind the twin slaying.
