A MAN and a woman were shot dead by an unidentified suspect last Thursday while waiting for a passenger vehicle along the national road in Bgy. San Jose Sico in Batangas City.
City police head Supt. Bernard Danie Dasugo identified the victims as Edward Garcia alias Salapi, 37, married, jobless and Petronila N. Garcia of legal age, both residents of RR Station, Bgy. 24, Batangas City.
According to the police, the victims were standing along the national road at around 6:45 p.m. waiting for a ride when the unidentified suspect arrived and shot them several times. The suspect then immediately fled towards an unknown direction.
The victims sustained multiple gunshot wounds that caused their deaths.
Thirty minutes earlier, Garcia was released from the Batangas City District Jail after posting bail for violation of the Omnibus Election Code, theft, violation of BP6, and resistance and disobedience to a person in authority.
Dasugo said Garcia was ranked no. 829 in the station’s drug watchlist.
Investigators recovered six fired cartridge casings and one deformed slug for cal. 45 at the crime scene.
