Sulu cop, 20 others nabbed for drugs

AGENTS of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested a 45-year-old Sulu policeman after he sold shabu to an undercover officer in Zamboanga City while 20 others were nabbed by Police Regional Office-Cordillera and Cavite police operatives in separate buy-bust operations.

PDEA Director General Isidro S. Lapeña yesterday identified the rogue cop as PO2 Mukramin Iddi Nani, a member of the Pangutaran Municipal Police Station in Sulu and residing in Bgy. Sinunuc, Zamboanga City.
   
Lapeña said the suspect was arrested by members of the PDEA Regional Office 9 headed by Director Joseph Ladip after he sold two plastic sachets containing six grams of shabu worth P30,000 to a poseur in his own neighborhood in Bgy. Sinunuc. The suspect also yielded the marked money paid to him by the undercover agent.
   
The suspect is now facing charges for violation of Section 5 (sale of dangerous drugs) and Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
   
Administrative charges for grave misconduct, an offense punishable by dismissal from the service, will also be filed against the policeman.
   
In Benguet, PRO-COR operatives arrested 16 drug personalities recently during separate massive anti-illegal drug operations.
   
PRO-COR director Chief Supt. Elmo Francis O. Sarona said his men arrested Jeggs Richie Panlasigui, John Paul Pabula, John Paul Corpuz, Carlo Layugan and Evelyn Balisi, of Cagayan; and Claver Aplod, of Agbannawag, Tabuk, Kalinga, for selling illegal drugs in Sitio Pakak, Agbannawag, Tabuk City; Danny Beljamin Babida, 40, security guard; Joseph Barbon Alagao, 42, janitor; and Jimmy Bisquerra Barreras, 42, security guard, all employees of the municipality of Bangued, Abra, who earlier surrendered to Bangued MPS, for conducting a shabu pot session at the Bangued Public Market, Zone 2, Bangued, Abra; Michael Bulataoy Villoria, 41, Jocelyn Eduarte Vergara, teacher, both of Hamada Subd., Baguio City; and Raymund Basanes Domingo, 23, construction worker, of 69A Lourdes Subdivision Extension, who were busted for shabu in a buy-bust operation; Al Denver Wal Sayan, priority target of the BCPO and PDEA, of 877 Purok 7, Adiwang Road, Dontogan, Baguio City, for violation of RA 9165; Benigno Peligman Bulagsay, 34, porter,
and Winnie Witawit Yatoyat, 31, both of Room 2, second floor, JC-266, Pico, La Trinidad, and John Andrei Corpuz Malecdan, 24, sales executive, of 37 Apugan Poliwes, who was nabbed at the night market on Harrison Road, Baguio City.
   
In Cavite, elements of Bacoor City Police Station (CPS) under the direct supervision of Supt. Christopher Olazo arrested Ramon Diaz Navidad, 38, construction worker; and Marites Montero Co, 39, businesswoman, both of Roses St., Green Valley, Jetti, Molino 2.
   
A Cavite Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group (PAIDSOTG) team, led by Insp. Marcelino Perez Male, with the Cavite Provincial Intelligence Branch, also conducted joint anti-illegal drugs operations at Bgy. Molino 2, where they arrested Chito dela Rosa Capillan, alias Minoy, 51, businessman.
   
A roving patrol conducted by tanods of Talaba 6 arrested Sonny Alagar, jobless, for using shabu at a pot session inside an abandoned house. He was referred to CPS and was subjected for laboratory examination.
   
Other suspects, identified as Jovy Deleña, single, jobless; and Jessica Sison, alias “Ganda”, single, also jobless, were able to escape.
   
Recovered from the suspects were 50 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu and the buy-bust money.
   
The pieces of evidence were brought to Cavite Provincial Crime Laboratory for examination while the suspects were turned over to police for proper disposition.
