Arms cache seized, 21 held in Marulas

ELEMENTS of Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Anti- Transnational Crimes Unit (PNP-CIDG-ATCU) seized a cache of firearms, including improvised explosive device (IED), and arrested 21 personalities as they raided a compound yesterday morning in Marulas, Valenzuela City.

CIDG-ATCU head Chief Insp. Roque Merdegia said PNP-CIDG ATCU, Detective Special Operations Unit (DSOU) and Highway Patrol Group (HPG) raided a compound on R. Valenzuela St., Bgy. Marulas, Valenzuela City, at 5 a.m. based on a search warrant issued by a court against Jefferson Ledesma, alias Dodong, and Ben Ledesma, alias Ben.
The team recovered six shotguns, five cal. .38 revolvers, a cal. .357 Magnum, a cal. .9mm, assorted ammunition and six bottles of improvised Molotov bombs.
Jefferson and Ben Ledesma, together with 19 others who introduced themselves as security guards, were arrested.
Merdeguia said the 19 security guards at the said premises were brought to ATCU office for verification and investigation.
Cases for violations of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and RA 9516 (illegal possession of explosives) will be filed against the suspects.
