THREE drug suspects were killed vigilante- style apparently by members of the Deadly Death Squad while three others died in shootouts yesterday in Pateros, Muntinlupa and Quezon cities.
The first incident took place at 2 a.m. when unidentified men barged into the house of Virgilio Cayangan, 44, single, at 7F Alley 11, P. Rosales St., Bgy. Sta. Ana, Pateros.
Cayangan, whom police said was included on the police drug watchlist, died instantaneously due to several bullet wounds in the body.
At 6:25 a.m., the bodies of alleged drug suspects Kalbo and Nonoy, about 25 to 30 years old, were discovered at an old piggery, agro production section of the New Bilibid Prison in Poblacion, Muntinlupa City.
Police said the victims, whose hands were tied with line wire and their faces wrapped with packaging tape, were known drug pushers from Cuyab, San Pedro, Laguna, and suppliers of illegal drugs in Duhat, Tunasan, Muntinlupa.
Police said both incidents are still under follow-up investigation.
In a report gathered from Quezon City Police District-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (QCPD-CIDU), the slain suspects in a shooting incident yesterday were identified as Rommel Haban, alias “Ogag”, of 5 Urbano St., Bgy. Bagbag, Novaliches; a certain Antonio Leandro Kanashi, 30, of 11th Jamboree, Kamuning; and an unidentified man.
According to QCPD director Senior Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, two police officers, identified as PO1 John Dale Ang of Station Anti-Illegal Drugs-Special Operations Task Group (SAID-SOTG), Police Station-4 ;and PO2 Julius Albao of District Anti-Illegal Drugs-SOTG, were wounded.
The first incident happened at the house of Haban, at 7 p.m. yesterday.
Eleazar said SAID-SOTG operatives, led by Senior Insp. Dennis Francisco, conducted a buy-bust operation at the house of Haban, a notorious drug suspect included in PS-4 drug watchlist.
During the transaction, the suspect sensed that he was dealing with policemen so he reportedly fired his gun and hit Ang in the right elbow. The police retaliated and neutralized the suspect.
Policemen rushed the suspect to Novaliches District Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. The wounded policeman was also taken to the same hospital.
Recovered at the crime scene were a cal. .38 gun, three fired cartridge cases, 10 plastic sachets of shabu and two marked P100 bills.
The second buy-bust operation happened at about 2 a.m. in front of Bliss 2 Bldg. in Mapagkumbaba St., Area 7, Bgy. Botocan, QC, where an encounter erupted among suspects Kanashi, his male cohort, and the DAID-SOTG operatives.
During the operation, PO2 Cesar Nano posed as a buyer for P5,000 worth of shabu but when the suspects learned that they were dealing with a policeman, they drew their firearms. A shootout ensued, killing the suspectsd.
Albao sustained a gunshots in the left hand.
Recovered at the crime scene were a cal. .45 and a cal. 38 pistols, several fired cartridge cases, 10 plastic sachets of shabu and the buy-bust money.
