Rebel returnee killed

A REBEL returnee was killed in a shootout with policemen shortly after he stole a gun from a soldier the other day in Juban, Sorsogon.

The fatality was identified as Rene Randio Sambajon, 40, single, of Bgy. Tabe, Gubat, Sorsogon.

The incident occurred at 3 p.m. inside a military Camp in Bgy. Rangas, Juban town.

The suspect reportedly entered the bunker of Cpl. David Soriano and took a cal. .45 pistol and proceeded to the barracks of Cpl. Lemuel Banta and Pfc. German Fernandez, both members of the Army’s 31st Infantry Battalion, and took a bandolier and an r4a3 rifle.

As the suspect tried to get out of the barracks, he pointed a gun to Pfc. German Fernandez, who saw him while leaving the barracks.
The suspect fired at Pfc. Reyniel Cataytay Mesias, who was manning the gate of the said post  that prompted the latter to return fire.
The exchange of fire continued until the suspect was hit in the body that caused his instantaneous death.
Recovered at the scene were 16 fire cartriges of r4a3 rifle and an Raa3 Remington rifle with magazine loaded with 26 complete cartridges, bandolier, 31 fired cartridges, and a cal. .45 with magazine loaded with five cartridges.
