FOUR suspected members of an organized drug syndicate in Laguna were arrested by members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in a buy-bust operation last Monday, PDEA Director General Isidro S. Lapeña announced yesterday.
The official identified three of the arrested suspects as Alidhaell Sally, 24; Melody Tandang, 41; and Emmanuel Santiago, 40. The 4th suspect is a 16-year-old girl. All are believed to be members of the Manambit Drug Group operating in Laguna.
Lapeña said operatives of the PDEA Region 4-B under Director Jigger Montellana, with the support of the Calamba City Police Station, arrested the suspect following the raid at Sally’s house which is suspected to have been converted into a drug den.
Recovered during the operation were 59 grams of shabu worth P300,000 and assorted drug paraphernalia. A 5th suspect identified as Richard Manambit managed to escape during the undercover operation and is still being hunted by the PDEA.
Manambit will be charged with violation of Section 5 (sale of dangerous drugs) and Section 12 (possession of drugs paraphernalia), Article II, of Republic Act 9165, or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, while a case for violation of Section 6 (Maintenance of a Drug Den) awaits Sally.
Separate charges for violation of Section 7 (Visitors of a Drug Den), Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs) and Section 15 (use of dangerous drugs) of RA 9165 will also be filed against the rest of the suspects.
The arrested minor will be turned over to the provincial office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development for temporary custody, Lapeña said.
