Malvar, Batangas -- After hiding for two months, a 19-year-old carpenter charged with rape in San Pablo City was nabbed by town authorities in Bgy. Sta. Clara, Sto. Tomas.
Provincial police director Senior Supt. Leopoldo Cabanag identified the suspect as Jeric Oba Mercader, alias Jeric, single, of Bgy. Sta. Clara.
At about 2 p.m. last Sept. 22, Sto. Tomas Police Station Intel and Warrant personnel, led by Chief Insp. Allan Reyes, conducted an operation against the wanted person which resulted in his arrest by virtue of a warrant issued by Judge Amy Melba S. Belulia of RTC Branch 30 of San Pablo City, with no bail recommended.
A rape complaint was filed against the suspect before the San Pablo City police last June 2016 for allegedly raping Jemmalyn (not her real name), Cabanag said.
