AT the height of intensive military operations, two more kidnap victims were freed by the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) Sunday night in Panglima Estino, Sulu.
Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP)-Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) spokesman Major Filemon Tan identified the victims as Daniela Taruc and Levy Gonzales, sub-contractors of a telecom company and employees of Power City Corporation.
Reports said the victims were released at around 10:30 p.m. in Bgy. Tiptipon, Panglima Estino town.
The victims were abducted by the bandits on August 6, 2016 in Bgy. Timpook, Patikul town.
Tan said the sustained military operations pressured the bandits to release the kidnap victims.
The victims were brought to the headquarters of the Joint Task Force Sulu and underwent medical check-up before they were turned over to their families.
For his part, Joint Task Force Sulu commander Brig. Gen. Arnel dela Vega vowed to continue their focused military operations in collaboration with police encounters to destroy the bandits in the province.
Earlier, the bandits also released Kjartan Sekkingstad, the remaining kidnap victim in Samal on Friday followed by three Indonesian nationals on Sunday.
