Cop held for colleague’s slay, shabu

A POLICEMAN from the National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) was placed under arrest after shooting a fellow cop, stealing a motorcycle and being found in possession of shabu which he hid in his wallet in Tondo, Manila, the other night.

Now in the custody of the Manila Police District-Homicide Section is PO1 Mark Sagun, 31, assigned at the NCRPO-Regional Police Holding Accounting Unit (RPHAU) and residing at Blk. 37, Welfareville, Mandaluyong City.
   
Victim PO1 Louie Wang, 32, assigned at the Manila Police District-Police Station 1, died while undergoing treatment in the hospital for a gunshot wound in the chest.
   
Investigation by SPO2 John Charles Duran showed that the incident took place at 8:10 p.m. at 1240 Canal de la Reina corner Pavia St., Tondo, Manila.
   
Police said the two were having a drinking session along with one Cesar Lajom, 46, who excused himself and left. When Lajom came back, the two were already arguing.
   
Sagun told probers he merely jumped the gun on the victim, who was about to shoot him.
   
The suspect reportedly tried to escape when he pointed a gun at a certain Eliser Halamani, 33, of 1376 CRA Reyes St., Tondo, and took the latter’s motorcycle (ME 38733).  However, he was nabbed by the group of PO2 An-tony Quilantang of the MPD Tactical Motorcycle Riders’ Unit, whose help was sought by Halamani.
   
The suspect will be made to undergo a drug and paraffin test to determine if he was under the influence of drugs when he shot his colleague.
   
Charges of murder, carnapping and illegal possession of dangerous drugs were filed against him before the Manila Prosecutor’s Office.
