REGINE Velasquez visibly lost weight when she showed up at the launch of PLDT HOME’s Smart Watch which her son Nate is endorsing. “Before kasi, I was taking steroids for my throat kasi laging may inflammation at may acid reflux ako,” she says. “E, steroids cause weight gain, so you look bloated. When I stopped the steroids, ayun, pumayat ako.”

She’s dubbed by PLDT Home as the Millennial Mom who can work and take good care of her children with the help of modern technology. “PLDT Home has products and services designed to give working moms like me peace of mind kahit nasa labas ka. First is through the Fam Cam home monitoring system that allows parents to check on their kids left at home while they’re in the workplace. With the Smart Watch naman, I can call my son Nate and talk to him, check on him as he can directly answer through his watch when it’s connected to their Telpad or smart phone. With the Smart Watch, which has many uses, kids can take photos, play music and record voice messages. Gusto ko ang Smart Watch as it can really help us bond better as a family and you can get it for only an additional P199 per month.”

This is Nate’s fourth endorsement. Will he eventually join showbiz? “I don’t know. Crush niya sina Marian Rivera, Maine Mendoza and Solenn Heussaff, but he loves the weather and he wants to be like Mang Tani raw, the weatherman.”

How does Nate feel about being a PLDT Home endorser? “I’m happy. Thank you, PLDT,” he replies.

Does he feel he’s now famous like his parents? “Yes!”
Regine says the PLDT people didn’t have any problems with Nate when they shot their TV commercial. “He’s really so nice to work with. When I told him you have to behave, talagang he behaved all throughout the shoot. Even when he said, Ma, I’m tired na, I told him to just do one more shoot, you smile, at smile pa rin siya. He really listens to instructions and follows them so I’m so proud of my son.”

Meanwhile, does she feel any apprehensions about Ogie Alcasid’s eldest daughter, Leila, staying with them by next year? “None, we get along fine and she really likes me. Actually, kami ni Ogie, we worry more for Michelle (van Eimeren, Leila's mom) kasi I’m sure mami-miss niya ’yung anak niya na ngayon lang mapapalayo sa kanya. But she says she really likes Leila to stay with us to get to know more about her dad and Leila is excited because she really wants to bond and spend time with her brother. Kasi baka lumaki raw si Nate na hindi siya kilala.”
Will Leila join showbiz? “I don’t know. She’s very pretty. Pero kung para sa akin, huwag na lang. Kasi ibang panahon ngayon and I’m very protective. Hindi mo kasi masabi, e. So I’d rather na sana, huwag na lang siyang mag-showbiz.”
What’s her next project at GMA-7 after “Poor Señorita”? “As of now, wala pa. Next year na uli. I still have naman ‘Sarap Diva’ which I host every Saturday.”

PAOLO Ballesteros just returned to “Eat Bulaga” after being suspended for five months for remarks he made about some advertisers in the Subic Ad Congress last year. You can say he returned with a bang as he was first seen on cam while on the top of a truck singing the Black Eyed Peas song, “Where is the Love?”
And judging from the very positive reaction of viewers on social media (he even trended on Twitter), it looks like they really missed him so much since he unceremoniously left last March and they now appreciate his return to the number one noontime show. Paolo says he learned so much from the experience.
“Unang-una, natutuhan kong huwag magmaldita,” he says. “And that it’s true na everything happens for a reason. While I’m away from ‘Eat Bulaga’, I had time to do two new movies, ‘Die Beautiful’ for IdeaFirst Company and ‘Bakit Lahat ng Guwapo May Boyfriend’ for Viva, both directed by Jun Lana who, I can say, brings out the best in me. Tapos 'yung ginagawa kong make-up transformations ng iba’t ibang artista, lalo na ‘Game of Thrones’ stars, napansin pati sa ibang bansa and it’s now opening doors for me for a reality show. Nothing’s definite yet, pero nakaka-excite, kaya matuloy sana at, malay natin, baka magkaroon ako ng international career, kung susuwertehin. Habang wala ako sa ‘Eat Bulaga’, na-supervise ko rin pala ang construction ng isang bagong bahay ko sa Antipolo. So naging very productive rin naman 'yung time na na-miss ako ng viewers sa ‘Eat Bulaga’.”
It’s just too bad that when Paolo returned, the Kalyeserye in “Eat Bulaga” has just ended and his fans wanted so much to see him again as the beautiful and glamorous Lola Tidora of Yaya Dub (Maine Mendoza). As of now, he’s just helping out host the “All for Juan, Juan for All” segment.
“Di bale,” he says. “Huwag silang mag-alala, kasi babalik pa naman daw ang Book Two ng Kalyeserye. So baka bumalik din ang tatlong lolas namin nina Jose Manalo and Wally Bayola roon. We never can tell so abangan na lang nila.”
