PHILIPPINE Christian University showed too much class in beating new member EARIST, 123-85, for a smashing start in the 16th NAASCU men’s basketball tournament at the Makati Coliseum.

The Dolphins rode on the high-scoring duo of Jon Von Tambeling and Yves Sazon to frustrate the Red Fox and launch their title bid on the right track.

Tambeling, who earned MVP honor during the 2016 MBL Open, and Sazon scored 34 points apiece to power the Dolphins of coach Elvis Tolentino to victory.

Fidel Castro, Mike Ayonayon, Andro Catipay and Brent Pallatao also shone for the Dolphins, who took control right in the opening minutes.
