A 35-YEAR-OLD cook on Sunday stabbed his live-in partner dead before committing suicide using the same knife in their house in Rosario, Cavite.
Still clutching a bloodied knife, suspect Marvin Legaspi and his live-in partner, Janice Balistero, 30, were both rushed to the Divine Grace Medical Center in General Trias City, where they died while undergoing treatment, said Cavite police director Sr. Supt. Arthur Bisnar.
An investigation conducted by the Rosario Municipal Police Station showed that the couple and three friends, one of them identified as Gilbenia Yoldan, were having drinks outside the suspect’s house in Park Ville Subdivision, Bgy. Silangan 1 past 6 p.m. on Sunday when Marvin and Janice entered their house.
Minutes later, Yoldan said she heard the two quarreling over a man before engaging in a fight. She said the fight stopped, with nobody making a noise, prompting her and her friends to investigate.
Yoldan was shocked to see Marvin and Janice bloodied and lying on the floor and the knife still in the hands of the suspect.
The suspect suffered three stab wounds in the chest. The woman sustained stab wounds in the chest, abdomen and underarm.
Homicide investigators and a team from the Imus City Crime Laboratory were investigating the incident.
