THE Commission on Elections yesterday reminded aspirants for the 2016 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections not to wait until the last day to file their certificates of candidacy.
Comelec Spokesman James Jimenez said the filing of COCs will be from October 3 to 5, 2016, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Office of the City/Municipal Election Officer who has jurisdiction over the barangay where they seek to be elected.
Jimenez said that filers usually swarm local Comelec offices on the last day.
“Candidates are fond of last-minute filing. Please do not wait for the last day to file your COCs so that you will still have time for corrections in case there are questions in your COCs,” the Comelec spokesperson said.
“Make sure that all the required documents are ready when you file. The COCs should be originally signed and sworn to before a notary public. Aside from the passport-size photo, a documentary stamp should be attached to an accomplished COC,” he added.
