THE Eastern Police District (EPD) is set to meet with bar owners in Metro East to formulate strategies to prevent the proliferation of illegal drugs in the said establishments.
The scheduled meeting was initiated by EPD Director Senior Supt. Romulo Sapitula and is part of the government’s campaign to combat illegal drugs amid reports that Ecstasy and party drugs are being used in bars.
Earlier, Philippine National Police chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa said high-end bars would not be spared from the government’s anti-drug campaign.
Last Saturday, police arrested two Filipino-American suspected suppliers of party drugs to posh bars and clubs in Bonifacio Global City and a disc jockey in separate drug busts in Taguig and Pasig.
PO3 Catherine Capinpin, of EPD Public Information Office, said the EPD will meet on Friday with bar owners from the eastern part which comprise the cities of Pasig, Mandaluyong, San Juan and Marikina.
Capinpin said the EPD chief wants the police and bar owners to come up with recommendations on how to sufficiently implement security measures to prevent bar patrons from using party drugs. “Kakausapin ni DD Sapitula ang mga may-ari at managers ng mga bar sa eastern part of Metro Manila para sa close coordination at siguruhin ang kaligtasan ng publiko at ng mga negosyo laban sa pagkalat ng illegal drugs,” she added.
