AUTHORITIES from the Manila Police District (MPD) killed eight men in a series of drug operations conducted in separate places in Manila. Those nabbed included a former barangay tanod and a dismissed policeman. Five were arrested, including an out-of-school girl.
A report from the MPD said that MPD-Station 11 cops killed 45-year-old Danilo Luchaveng, a former barangay tanod and resident of 565 Lara St., Binondo, after fighting off the cops who were arresting him during an operation in his house at around 4:35 p.m. the other day.
Luchaveng, who allegedly even tried to escape, died on the spot due to gunshot wounds in the body.
About 25 minutes later, MPD-Station 8 cops shot dead ex-policeman Floberto Tolentino Jr., 61, of 301 Balimbing St., V. Mapa St., Sta. Mesa, Manila.
The police reportedly raided the home of Tolentino at around 5 p.m. the other day, when he refused to surrender in connection with the ‘Oplan Tokhang’ done in the area where he lives.
PO2 Gener Paguyo posed as a buyer and purchased from Tolentino’s live-in partner Madelyn Valencia P1,000 worth of shabu. After getting the money and as the drugs were being handed over to the poseur-buyer, Tolentino arrived and saw Paguyo and then shouted, ‘P…na, pulis ’yan!’ He then allegedly drew a gun and tried to fire at Paguyo but his gun, a cal. .38 pistol, jammed, giving Paguyo the time to call for back-up.
When Paguyo’s companions arrived, Tolentino reportedly refused to give up and engaged the cops in a shootout, resulting in his death. Valencia, on the other hand, got arrested.
Tolentino’s brother Leo admitted to police that the suspect was a drug user and it was the reason that he got dismissed from the service, but denied knowing anything about his being a drug pusher, too.
At around 10:45 p.m. of the same day, authorities killed one Erwin Robles during a drug-bust operation in his home. Robles is said to be a notorious drug pusher residing at 2831 Arellano Avenue-Riverside, Malate, Manila.
A report from the MPD-Station 9 said that a buy-bust operation was conducted and as they were approaching Robles’ home, he had a gun pointed at the cops’ direction, prompting them to shoot, hitting him in the body and killing him instantly.
A simultaneous operation, meanwhile, resulted in the arrest of a 16-year-old out-of-school girl, of Camalig Street, Bgy. Palanan, Makati City, who was found in possession of shabu.
At 12:30 a.m. yesterday, a buy-bust operation conducted by MPD-Station 4 operatives at 907 Masbate St. in Sampaloc, Manila, resulted in the death of two brothers suspected of being drug pushers. They were identified as Albert Aguilar and Adriano Aguilar Jr. When the police arrived at their home, the suspects allegedly tried to resist so the cops fired at them.
Less than an hour later beginning at around 1 a.m., MPD-Station 7 authorities killed drug suspects Moises Canlas, 18, Mathew Buenaventura, 29, and Raymund dela Cruz, 31, all residents of Interior 35, Pilar Street, near the railroad tracks in Tondo.
The cops were reportedly able to purchase P500 worth of shabu in the buy-bust operation and when the arrest was being made, Canlas sensed that they were dealing with cops so he drew a gun and tried to shoot poseur-buyer PO3 Pausto Palma, whose companions fired at the suspects.
Meanwhile, four other suspected drug pushers were arrested in separate buy-bust operations. They were identified as Raymond Marabe, 24, of 143 Marulas A, Caloocan City; Emil Tolentino, 24, of Pilar Street, Tondo; Rhodora Guanzon, 21, of 113 C3 Road, Caloocan City; and Edison Madriaga, 27, of Katamanan St., Tondo.
Police recovered in all of the said drug operations eight cal. .38 firearms, 31 plastic sachets of shabu, drug paraphernalia and all of the marked money used in the buy-bust operations.
The arrested suspects are now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
