TARLAC City, Tarlac -- Gov. Susan A. Yap urged local executives to rally behind her in fighting and ending the drug menace in the province.
Yap made the appeal during the holding of “Anti-Dangerous Drug Summit” at the provincial capitol here yesterday.
Interior and Local Government Sec. Ismael D. Sueno was the keynote speaker of the summit but was not able to attend due to a hectic schedule. He was represented by his two undersecretaries during the summit. She said the mayors should led barangay offiacials in their locality to rid the streets of drug pushers.
The summit was organized by the governor to inform all local executives in the province to commit themselves in adressing the problems of illegal drugs in their areas.
Aside from 18 mayors of Tarlac, the summit was attended by top police officials from Police Regional Office 3 and Tarlac Police Office headed by Senior Supt. Patrick Obinque.
Officials from the regional office of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Luzon led several speakers during the summit, who discussed the mechanics in the operation and participation of local executives in the fight against illegal drugs.
