Female drug pusher arrested anew

FOR the second time, a 53-year-old female food vendor selling shabu on the sidelines was arrested by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in an entrapment operation in Pasay City last Friday, PDEA chair Undersecretary Jose S. Gutierrez said yesterday.

Suspect Marilyn B. Tungol, a widow, of 150 Road 4, Pildera II, Pasay City, was charged with violation of Republic Act  9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, before the Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office, said Gutierrez.

The PDEA chief said Tungol, one of the female drug personalities included in the PDEA ‘watch list,’ was arrested shortly after she sold a packet of shabu to an undercover officer of the PDEA National Capital Region near the Our Lady of Airways Parish on Road 4, Pasay City.

The suspect also yielded five plastic sachets containing the drug apart from the marked money.

“This is not the first time that Tungol was arrested for selling illegal drugs. This is strike two for her. She is not a novice in the illegal drug business and our agents have been monitoring her activities for some time now,” Gutierrez said.

He said that prior to her arrest last Feb. 17, Tungol was also arrested by Philippine National Police operatives in a buy-bust operation two years ago. However, she was released for some technical reasons.

Tungol was placed under the temporary custody of PDEA-NCR awaiting proper court order for proper disposition, said Gutierrez, who asked PDEA-NCR chief Director Pedrito Magsino to make it sure that the suspect will not get away with her crime this time.
