UNIDENTIFIED men mobbed a Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) aide at dawn Saturday after they were reprimanded for drag racing along Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard in Pasay City.
The group of drag racers ganged up on the MMDA aide, identified as Raul Reoteres, leaving him injured. Reoteres sustained wounds in the head and back. He was rushed to the San Juan de Dios Hospital for treatment.
The suspects were able to flee.
However, MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino said several witnesses have surfaced.
Investigators said the individuals involved in the incident belong to rich families.
Tolentino said they will closely monitor drag racing activities on Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard as well as in other areas known as hotspots for the illegal activity.
He also said MMDA traffic enforcers are still prohibited from carrying firearm despite recent calls to arm them.
Last September 7, an MMDA traffic aide was also shot in San Juan while apprehending a traffic violator. Jojo Sadiwa
