QUEZON City Mayor Herbert Bautista has warned that stringent actions will be imposed against owners of industries and commercial establishments in the city whose business operations are potential sources of water pollution.
Bautista issued the warning during a conference on Proper Wastewater Disposal for a Healthy Business Environment held recently at the Philippine Social Science Center (PSSC) where he stressed the need to strictly comply with the provisions of Republic Act 9275 or the Clean Water Act.
The mayor said that the city’s business sector should strictly comply with the law particularly on the requirement that establishment owners must install waste treatment facilities.
“The business sector also has environmental obligations. Let us work together to make sure that all parameters of the Clean Water Act and other relevant laws are enforced, without fear or favor,” the mayor said.
Bautista also appealed to household owners, which are also considered as major land-based source of pollution, to comply with the said law.
QC has partnered with the Laguna Lake Development Authority, Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Department of Science and Technologyin the implementation of the city’s anti-pollution strategies. Cory Martinez
