IPINAGMALAKI kahapon ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) na naging matagumpay ang paglalagay nila ng motorcycle lane sa kahabaan ng EDSA. Ito ay matapos na wala isa mang naitalang aksidente nang nagmomotorsiklo sa loob ng isang linggo.
Napag-alaman kay MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino, nagsimulang tugunan ng ahensiya ang kanilang programa mula noong Martes kaya’t umaasa sila na magtutuluy-tuloy na ito.
Simula nang magsagawa ng ‘dry run’ sa paggamit ng blue lane sa 23.8-kilometrong haba ng EDSA ay umabot sa 3,344 ang nadakip ng mga traffic enforcer na pawang isinailalim muna sa 15-minutong seminar.
Aniya pinakamaraming nahuli noong araw ng Lunes at unti-unti ng bumaba ang bilang ng mga violators.
Simula aniya sa Lunes ay mag-iisyu na ng traffic violation receipt ang mga traffic enforcers laban sa mga lalabag sa paggamit ng motorcycle lane.
Hindi rin pahihintulutan ng MMDA ang pagsasakay ng lalagpas sa dalawa sa isang motorsiklo.
