Manila Police District director Chief Supt. Alex Gutierrez yesterday announced the arrest of two Chinese nationals during an anti-drug operation in Malate by operatives from MPD-Station 9.
Citing a report from Station 9 chief Superintendent Ernesto Tendero, Gutierrez identified the Chinese nationals as Chun-Na Tan, 50, and Chiok-A Li, 42, both jobless and with no known addresses.
Tendero reported that the two suspects were nabbed at around 4:30 p.m. near the Aristocrat Restaurant at the service road of Roxas Boulevard in Malate, following a long period of surveillance which was based on tipped information that Li and Tan are flagrantly into selling of drugs in the said area.
During their arrest, the operatives under Tendero recovered some 50 grams of shabu worth about P.3 million and the cash bundle of P200,000 which was used in the buy-bust operation.
The two are now in detention at the MPD-Station 9 pending the filing of appropriate charges against them by the police.
Meanwhile, Gutierrez directed Tendero to check with the immigration bureau the status of the duo’s stay in the country.
