AGENTS of the National Bureau of Investigation arrested a Filipino doctor accused of defrauding the United States government’s health care program of $3 million.
NBI Foreign Liaison Division chief Claro de Castro, Jr. identified the suspect as Eric Uy Chan, alias “Eric Uy Garchitorena.”
Chan is facing charges of Grand Theft and Health Care Fraud before the US court. He reportedly presenting false medical claims in order to collect $3 million from the California Medical Program.
"Mr. Chan is wanted for trial in the Superior Court of the State of California. He is wanted by the US government for defrauding the California state Medical program for over $3 million. It was reported to us that the subject fled to the Philippines to evade arrest and prosecution," De Castro said.
Chan was arrested inside the Camp Aguinaldo compound in Quezon City Saturday. Hector Lawas
