AUTHORITIES arrested a man claiming to be a grandson of Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile for creating trouble inside a restaurant at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City Monday.
City police chief Senior Supt. Melchor Reyes identified the suspect as Achilles Ponce Enrile, 32, alias Alvin Mayoralgo, of San Isidro Street, Metroville Subdivision, Cainta, Rizal.
The suspect is facing charges of estafa and alarm and scandal after two representatives of the Café Mediterranean lodged a complaint against him.
Station Investigation and Detective Management Section head Chief Insp. Joey Goforth said the suspect entered the establishment to complain about the incomplete food he ordered two nights ago.
When the restaurant personnel asked for the receipt of the supposed food order, the suspect reportedly identified himself as a grandson of the Senate president and showed his identification card.
The management of the restaurant gave in to the demand of the said suspect who proceeded to the Reyes B-BQ and made the same claim.
The suspect then proceeded to a Dunkin Donut outlet, still inside the MOA, and made the same complaint.
However, the service crew refused to give in to his demands prompting the suspect to create a scandal catching the attention of the mall security personnel.
Enrile was invited to the mall’s security office to shed light on the matter.
The security personnel discovered that it was the suspect’s modus operandi to identify himself as a grandson of the Senate President to be able to get food items without paying.
The first two restaurants decided to press charges to give the suspect a lesson.
