A man on board a motorcycle died after he was run over by a 10-wheeler truck on EDSA, Balintawak, Quezon City past midnight Tuesday.
The victim who was killed on the spot due to head and body injuries was Christian Cando, 27, of Caloocan City.
Traffic investigator PO1 Leonardo Policarpio said the incident happened at around 12:30 a.m. on the north-bound lane of EDSA in front of the Caltex gasoline station in Balintawak.
Policarpio said Cando was run over by an Isuzu dump truck (RJK-278) that was driven by Danilo Caudina, 36.
He learned that Cando was driving a Honda XRM motorcycle (4492NN) along the motorcycle lane of EDSA prior to the incident. The motorcycle lane is located on the fourth lane from the right.
The road was wet after rains fell earlier when Cando decided to overtake the dump truck that was ahead of him, said Policarpio.
The investigator said the dump truck kept on its lane, which is the second lane from the left, when Cando tried to overtake.
However, apparently because of the wet road, the motorcycle skidded and Cando fell.
Policarpio said based on the skid marks, the dump truck kept on its lane and even tried to stop when Cando fell.
But it was too late and Cando eventually got ran over by the dump truck. With Jessica Malonzo
