Cops kill 2 of 4 holduppers

TWO of four holduppers were killed while two others escaped after they were caught red-handed by patrolling policemen while holding up passengers of a jeepney cruising along Tondo, Manila, the other night.

No sources of identification were found on the slain suspects, who are estimated to be between 25 and 35 years old.

In his report to Manila Police District Director Gen. Alex Gutierrez, homicide section prober PO3 Milbert Balinggan said the incident took place at around 11 p.m. at the corner of Morga and Juan Luna Streets in Tondo.

Information gathered showed that the suspects boarded the jeepney being driven by Andro Panganiban as it reached Padre Rada Street in Tondo.  Moments later, the suspects drew guns, declared a holdup and hurriedly took all of the passengers’ money and belongings.

When the jeepney reached Morga Street, operatives under Station 2 commander, Supt. Jemar Modequillo, who were then patrolling the area, noticed the commotion and approached the vehicle.

The suspects jumped out of the jeepney and as the policemen pursued them, they were met by a volley of gunfire, so that they fired back, killing two of the suspects instantly.

Recovered from the slain suspects were .38 and .357 caliber pistols with live ammunition.
