MPD7 chief’s policy: Arrest a drug suspect a day

AN arrest a day keeps drug suspects away.

This seems to be guiding policy of Supt. Roderick Mariano, commander of Manila Police District Station 7, whose men had recently arrested seven drug suspects in a span of one week.

Mariano said the success in his station’s anti-drug campaign is a result of his initiative to immediately conduct coordination efforts with barangay officials upon assumption last month.

“During the said meeting, it was gathered from barangay chairmen that most of their complaints concern illegal drug activities. Thus, they immediately relieved the members of the Station Anti-Illegal Drugs (SAID) Unit, including its chief,” he said.

Under Insp. Romeo Rosini, the station’s new SAID-SOTU chief, anti-illegal drug activities were conducted within the span of one week, resulting in the arrest of several persons for illegal drugs violation.

Those arrested were Marvin Rubio, alias “Putong,” 30, of 460 Hermosa St;  Virgilio Garcia alias “Bobot,” 54, of 2941 Juan Luna St.; Djastin Lopez alias “DJ,” 19, of 991 Int.12 Morong St.; Reynaldo Torres, 35, of Pavia St.; Jeran Soriano, alias “Jeran,” 27, of 1018 Hermosa St.;  Rolando Dacanay alias “Roland,” 21, of  411 Pilapil St., all in Tondo, Manila; and Carlos Flores alias “Alo” and “Charlie,” 42, of 2553 F. Huertas St., Sta. Cruz, Manila.

Mariano said that Rubio, as verification later showed, also has a standing warrant of arrest for illegal possession of firearms.

Flores, on the other hand, is a suspect in the August 16, 2011 murder of one Sherwin Enriquez, 24.  He was positively identified by the victim’s mother as the one who killed his son right in front of their house.
