PITUMPUNG “pasaway” na drivers ang dinakip ng mga traffic enforcers ng National Capital Region-Land Transportation Office kahapon.
Sinabi ni NCR-LTO Director Atty. Teofilo Guadiz III, sa official report na ipinadala sa kanya ng Traffic Enforcer Group leader Joel Donato, 80% sa mga dinakip ay nagmamaneho ng smoke belchers, colorum at unregistered na mga sasakyan.
Ayon kay Guadiz, ang crackdown sa mga smoke belchers at running coffin vehicles ay patuloy bilang suporta sa kampanya ng gobyerno sa climate change upang linisin ang Metro Manila sa pollution na ibinubuga ng mga sasakyan.
Sa pag-aaral ng iba’t ibang grupo, ang usok na ibinubuga ng mga sasakyan ang may pinaka-malaking contribution sa pollution sa Kamaynilaan.
Ayon kay Guadiz, kinumpiska lahat ang lisensiya ng mga pasaway na drivers at ang iba naman ay ang mga LTO license plates ang kinumpiska ng mga traffic enforcers ng NCR-LTO.
Idiniin ni Guadiz na daraan sa intensive traffic seminars ang mga nahuling mga driver bukod sa penalties bago mabawi ng mga ito ang kanilang mga driver’s license.
Samantala, kailangang pumasa sa intensive roadworthiness at smoke testing ang mga smoke-belcher vehicles na nahuli bago maibalik ang kanilang mga LTO-license plates.
Ayon kay Guadiz, ang programa ay tuluy-tuloy upang kung hindi man lubusang maubos ang mga smoke belchers ay mabawasan.
