THE Mandaluyong Regional Trial Court Branch 213 has issued an alias warrant of arrest against actress Elizabeth Jill Tamayo, who uses Beth Tamayo as her screen name, and her husband Johnny Wong in connection with a multi-million estafa case filed against them under Article 31 of paragraph 2 of the Revised Penal Code.    Records showed that last April of 2008, Tamayo and her husband sold a parcel of land in Quezon City covered by TCT No. N-251615 to a certain Romeo N. Castro amounting to P10 million. A week later, the couple allegedly sold the same lot for the same amount to one Conrado G. Fernandez.

Tamayo reportedly handed a Deed of Absolute Sale for the same land title and notarized at Quezon City to Castro and Fernandez. During the transactions, the actress requested the complainants not to transfer the said property in their names as it was possible that she would  buy it back for sentimental reasons.

“We acceded to her request. Since there was no buying back, we asked Beth and her husband Johnny about their stand but they did not respond. After verification, we discovered that Beth executed in favor of one Gerald Legaspi a Deed of Absolute Sale for the same subject property,” Castro and Fernandez said in their affidavits of complaint.

Several demands were made for Tamayo to return the money but the couple failed.

The complainants warned Tamayo that they will resort to legal action if they again failed to comply, but the respondents allegedly still refused to settle the matter.

After deliberating on the case for several years, a warrant of arrest was issued against the couple whom sources said are hiding in the United States to elude arrest. The complainants are now contemplating to seek the cancellation or revocation of Tamayo’s passport to force her to be repatriated back to the Philippines and face the charges against her.

Sources privy to this case told that whenever Tamayo was in the country, she reportedly went to her close friend whom she said are willing to help her.

The same sources added that Tamayo always name-dropped Judy Ann Santos as one of her friends who always gave her advice.
