Gun licenses of BoC clerk, pal revoked

THE Philippine National Police has revoked the permit to carry and firearm licenses of a Porsche-driving clerk of the Bureau of Customs and his companion accused of mauling and shooting two students in Pasay City.

PNP-Firearms and Explosives Office director Senior Supt. Raul D. Petrasanta said effective Feb. 1, the licenses issued to the .caliber-40 Taurus pistol of Paulino C. Elevado and that of the caliber  .45 pistol of his businessman-friend Florencio Bato have been revoked.

The Permit-to-Carry-Firearms-Outside-of-Residence issued to the suspects was also cancelled by PNP chief Director General Nicanor A. Bartolome.

As a result of the revocation, the two guns are now subject for confiscation. The two are now facing charges of physical injuries and attempted murder.

Petrasanta said on Jan.27, they placed Elevado and Bato’s firearms’ licenses under the “watch list” to prevent the sale, transfer or renewal of its licenses.

Elevado came under fire after he and Bato allegedly mauled a student and his friend after a chase along the south-bound lane of South Luzon Expressway.

The student, who was driving a Toyota Innova, swerved to the service road heading to Villamor Air Base to escape. However, Elevado and Bato caught up and beat the complainants.

The incident was caught on a close-circuit television camera which resulted in the arrest of the suspects.   Alfred Dalizon
