NOW it can be told: President Noynoy Aquino gave Valenzuela City 2nd District Councilor Shalani Soledad and her husband Pasig City Rep. Roman Romulo eight pieces of wine glasses as gifts on their wedding last month.

A highly-placed source said the newly-wed couple appreciated the gift very much despite its simplicity.

“Some expected too much from the President. They thought he would give his ex-girlfriend a very expensive gift or an extra-ordinary present that would stood out from the rest and which fits for his position as the highest leader of the land. To tell you the truth, Lani and Roman were not surprised at all because despite its simplicity, they loved it because it came from the President,” the source said.

P-Noy earleir admitted that he just asked his presidential staff to buy the wedding gift for the couple because he cannot personally attend to it due to his busy schedules.

He also did not lie when he declared that he did not personally know what his staff has bought for the Romulos.

The newly-weds returned to the country last Friday after spending their honeymoon in Rome for more than a week.

Meanwhile, Shalani will still be a part of TV5 family even if Senator Manny Villar’s daughter, Camille, replaced her as one of the co-hosts of  “Wil Time Big Time”.
