A 62-YEAR-OLD tour guide serving as interpreter for Chinese nationals went to the Manila Police District-Homicide Section yesterday to bolster reports that Gong Shu Yang, 25, the Chinese national who hit with a car, stabbed and then ran over his girlfriend in Malate, Manila, had committed suicide.
In a sworn statement, Peter Chioa, of 851 Bahamas St., Sta. Cruz, Manila, said he heard Gong speaking to someone over the cellphone.
Chioa said the arrested suspect bade goodbye and left instructions that all his stuff from his rented unit be retrieved because he won’t be seeing them again.
Chioa told the police that based on what he heard, Gong had been talking to a certain‘Ate’. The suspect asked this ‘Ate’ to see him at the police station so he can personally leave her instructions which he could not relay over the cellphone, since there was somebody near him who can understand Chinese, in reference to Chioa.
It was learned that Chioa was at the homicide section following up the case of his nephew Kelvin Chioa, owner of the laundry shop who was killed when three suspects robbed his establishment only recently.
Since he was already there, he was asked to serve as interpreter so that Gong may be investigated thoroughly.
