“MAUUNA na ako sa iyo.” With these words, PO2 Hernani Saulong Decipulo Jr., 38, jumped from the rooftop of the Quezon City Jail annex yesterday morning. The head of the suspect-turned-witness in the Maguindanao massacre cracked like an eggshell as he hit the pavement. Bloodied brain matter streamed from his skull and broken knees. Eerily, he resembled the 58 victims he was earlier accused of slaughtering like animals for experiments. PO2 Decipulo jumped from the fourth floor of Quezon City Jail Annex in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City.
Reports from Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-National Capital Region (BJMP - NCR) revealed that PO2 Hernani Decipulo, 38, committed suicide by jumping from the rooftop of the said jail facility shortly after talking to his wife Norhaya Decipulo.
It was learned that Decipulo is a suspect in Maguindanao massacre that killed 58 persons including 32 members of media but turned himself as state witness against the primary suspects, the Ampatuan clan.
Decipulo was last seen talking to his wife at around 4:00 p.m. at the rooftop of the jail facility that was also designated as visitation area for police officers accused in the massacre.
According to Norhaya, her husband uttered words “Mauuna na ako sa iyo,” before he jumped.
Decipulo was rushed to the Sabile Hospital but was declared dead on arrival due to severe head injuries and broken knees.
According to his wife, Decipulo was suffering depression for the slow progress of his case.
In line with this, BJMP Director Rosendo Dial immediately ordered an investigation to determine if there is a foul play in the incident.
Decipulo is one of 12 policemen who had been set to testify for the government against Andal Ampatuan Jr.
