MAJORITY of Metro Manila bus operators yesterday admitted they are not ready to implement minimum wages for drivers and conductors.
MMB operators disclosed that since the order was issued by Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), not even a single bus operator has seen and received the order.
Bus operators also admitted they do not know how to implement the order because until now there is no internal rules and regulation (IRR).
“Wala po talaga kaming alam dito tsaka ’yung nga wala pa rules kung paano namin ito ipatutupad,” MMB operators said.
The government has ordered bus operators nationwide to give fixed salaries to their bus drivers and conductors prescribed by the DOLE and LTFRB.
Based on the LTFRB-Memorandum Circular (MC) prescribing a part fixed, part performance-based salary and minimum working hours for all bus drivers and conductors will take effect on February 1.
