POLICE investigators are awaiting the autopsy result to determine what case they should file against a woman and her live-in partner who were taken into police custody following the death Friday night of her two-year-old niece whom police suspect was beaten and sexually abused.
Jonalyn Traval and her live-in partner Reynante Patubo, both of 164 Interior 4, Kilusan St., Sapang Kangkong, Bgy. Old Balara, Quezon City, are now in the custody of the Quezon City Police District-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit.
Officer-on-case PO3 Jogene Hernandez said that the two are being investigated over the death of Jonalyn’s two-year-old niece, Juris Trapal.
Hernandez said Juris was rushed by the couple to the Quirino Memorial Medical Center (QMMC) where she was declared dead on arrival at around 11:50 p.m. Friday.
He said the girl seemed to have suffered beatings due to multiple abrasions and a swollen right shoulder.
Hernandez said the girl may have also suffered sexual abuse since her sex organ was found swollen.
Jonalyn told police that her brother left to them Juris when she was just seven months old and have looked after her since. She said Juris’ parents had separated.
On Friday night, Jonalyn said that Juris was having difficulty in breathing so they rushed her to the hospital.
Jonalyn also said that Juris got injured last January 31 when she fell down the comfort room floor after standing on the toilet bowl.
